Nino Zoccali’s hospitality career began when he opened his first restaurant, Caffe Contadino in Margaret River, at the age of 25. He went on to establish landmark restaurants Otto Ristorante on Woolloomooloo Wharf and, in 2008, The Restaurant Pendolino in the historic Strand Arcade. In 2011 he expanded his Strand Arcade holdings, opening La Rosa.

Nino’s family heritage is obvious in his cooking and passion for all things Italian. The Restaurant Pendolino specialises in regionally-inspired Italian fare and is known for its celebration of Australian extra virgin olive oil – it even has a dedicated l’olioteca (olive oil store). 

La Rosa The Strand, located opposite Pendolino at the other end of The Strand Arcade, is modelled on a Roman osteria and wine bar. 

As well as being a passionate chef, Nino is a cookbook author and olive oil expert, having judged olive oil competitions across Australia for over 12 years.
